Have you ever opened your refrigerator and all of a sudden a foul odor comes out of the refrigerator? You spray some air freshener in the kitchen and that works for awhile, but sooner or later you have have to deal with the source of the smell. So you take all of the food out of the fridge; identify the item and dispose of it.

Something similar happened to me. I bought some cornbread from the grocery store and discovered later that the cornbread had small beetles in it. I threw out the cornbread but the beetles remained and they started to multiply. I’d wake up in the morning and see dead bugs on the counter. Bug spray didn’t help so I finally called the exterminator who said that he’d have to clean out all of the kitchen cabinets and discover what the beetles were feasting on or they’d never go away. So I cleaned out the cabinets…or at least I thought I had. About two months later the bugs came back and that’s when I discovered on a back shelf a small tupperware container filled with flour! When I opened the container, it was filled with beetles.

Either one of two things happened: either the bugs had laid eggs and matured and entered into the container, or, more likely, the flour had been contaminated with the eggs, and even though I had cleaned the cabinets, I was unaware that the eggs were nesting in the flour, and I had to go through the whole process again.

So what’s the point? Whether you’re spraying the air to get rid of a bad smell, or you’re spraying bugs on counter or in a cabinet, you’re only dealing with the symptoms!! To experience true change in our lives we have to go to the root!!!
