If you take a plant and you place it in a pot regardless of the potential of the plant, it will be restrained by the size of the pot you place it in. So if you have an oak tree and you place it in a pot, it can only grow to the size of the pot even though it is an oak tree. As people, we have to continually ask ourselves in the current environment that we’re in: Can I grow to my potential? Even if I have oak tree potential, if I stay in the wrong environment I will only grow to be a house plant. This is why you want to be so careful who you hang out with, because they can pollute the environment that you are in, and you’ll never grow to your potential.

Satan’s goal is to keep us frozen in time. Have you ever owned a computer or perhaps you were using one at work and then the screen froze and you could not push the cursor, you could not get the screen to change, all you could do was try to reboot, but it seemed as though the computer would not even turn off. It seemed as though the only option you had was to just stare at the screen. This is what Satan wants in our lives; he wants us staring at the frozen computer screen of the past – the mistakes, poor choices – feeling like we have no other picture to look at.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV)
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

Philippians 3:13-15 (NKJV)
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
