Law Leash

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, May 22nd 2017 Share the goods! Have you ever seen a big dog on a leash and the person is being pulled in each and every direction? You keep listening to the owner yell at the dog “come over here, come over here” and it looks like the dog is walking the person rather than the person walking the dog. This is exactly how some people live their Christian life. They are living their Christian lives on a law leash! “Stop doing this, stop doing that, read your bible, go to church…” There is nothing wrong with these things in themselves, but we are being jerked around by a law leash. Now, have you ever seen a dog walk by its master without a leash yet they never leave their master? The person walks, the dog walks. The person stops, the dog stops. You know why you do not need a leash? Because of their relationship. When you walk in a house, you can always tell the difference between a grace dog and a law dog. A law dog always has its tail tucked in underneath, it is intimidated by its master because it thinks the master is going to yell, “Do this!” or “I am going to spank you with the newspaper!” But when the grace dog sees its master, its tail starts to wag because it knows that there is a relationship. Jesus paid the price to give us access to the relationship He has with Father God. Click To Tweet MORE TOPICS addiction authority biblical characters career challenges...

Sighted Skier

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, April 24th 2017 Share the goods! Prior to the 1988 Olympics, there was a television show about training blind skiers in slalom racing. Trainees would start off using a flat area and would be paired with a sighted skier. The blind skier learned to turn right and left and we taken to the slalom slopes. Sighted skiers would ski with them and shout; “left!” “right!” “right!” The trainees would turn when their sighted partner told them. They relied solely on the word of their sighted partner. If they relied on that word and turned when they were told to turn, then everything would turn out perfect. It was either trust or catastrophe! By listening to that sighted partner, they would finish the course and get across the finish line. This is the Christian life; we are blind compared to the Holy Spirit. If we take Him at His Word, He will cause us to navigate the course of life and bring us to the finish line safely, but we must take Him at His Word. Let's take Holy Spirit at His word! The Fitzgerald Auction

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, April 17th 2017 Share the goods! There was a wealthy English man Barron Fitzgerald. He had an only son whom he loved with all of his heart and might. Unfortunately, this young man got sick and he died. Fitzgerald was shattered at the loss of his son. As time passed, Fitzgerald died and he had a very large art collection that was extremely valuable but there was no one to inherit it. His wife had long since been dead. The first piece of art was a picture of his son and it did not have the beauty of all the other pieces. It was sort of a personal thing that had a lot of sentimental value to him. And of course, people were coming for the expensive pieces not this sentimental picture. The auctioneer asked for a bid on the picture of Fitzgerald’s son and nobody showed any interest because they had come for the good stuff not the picture of his son, the expensive stuff. They did not want the ordinary stuff. If you love and receive the son of God, His kingdom is yours! Click To Tweet The auctioneer kept calling and calling but nobody would bid. Then a lonely man said, “If nobody wants the picture of the boy I will take it.” While this was going on the crowd was getting very impatient. They wanted the rest of the auction to proceed. When it was over, the people were upset and said, “What do you mean it is over?” The crowd cried the louder, “What do you...

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, February 8th 2016 Share the goods! If we were able to control every point of access into America, or only have one point of access then it would be difficult for terrorists to infiltrate the country. But since there are many entry points it makes the job of keeping villains out more challenging. Like a bank robber or jewel thief is how satan attempts to act in our lives. He wants to sneak in and gain access into our minds and lives at entry points where our defenses are down. If we can control our thought life, we can control our decisions. Click To Tweet Notice the Bible does not say “take every demon captive,” but rather 2nd Corinthians 10:5 says to “take every thought captive.” This doesn’t mean that we don’t have to cast out demons, but we cast out demons from demon-possessed people, not normal everyday saints. If we can control our thought life, we can control our decisions. If we can control our thought life, we can control the amount of peace that we experience. Planted vs Buried

Planted vs Buried

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, October 12th 2015 Share the goods! It’s critical that we know the difference between being planted, and being buried. In John 12:24 (NKJV), Jesus says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” God wants you to know that you’ve been planted, but satan wants you to think that you’ve been buried. So it’s critical that we know the difference between planting and burial. On the surface, planting and burying look the same; both involve digging into the ground, but here’s the key difference: planting has a future; burial does not. You bury the dead when life is over, but when you plant a seed, you bury it in the ground so that after a period of transformation it comes back up greater than it was when it went down. When you plant a seed, you aren’t burying it to get rid of it, but rather you are planting the seed so that new life may grow. But satan wants you to feel that you’re buried. Buried in guilt. Buried in shame. Buried in regret. And he wants you to remain in buried, stuck in the dark. Just because you may be in a dark place now, it doesn’t mean that that’s your final destination. Follow The Leader

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, September 11th 2017 Share the goods! Do you remember when you were a little kid and you used to play a game called “Follow the Leader”? Remember what that was like; you would pick one child and make them the leader and whatever the leader did you would have to do. So if the leader stood up on one leg, you would have to stand up on one leg. If the leader would hop on their right leg, then you had to hop on the right leg or you were out. If the leader would hop on the left leg you had to hop on the left leg or you were out. If the leader climbed a tree, you had to climb the tree or you were out. Now here is the key question: how did you know what the leader was doing so that you could imitate him? Simple. You had to stay in their presence. If you refused to stay in their presence, then you would not know what to do. If you looked away for a second, then you would not know what the leader is doing. If we are going to be a true disciple, we are going to have to count the cost of following Christ. If we are going to be a true disciple, we are going to have to count the cost of following Christ. Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, April 3rd 2017 Share the goods! Back during WW2, there was a statue that had been bombed in Germany. Locals were trying to repair the statue and prepare it so that it could be on display. And as they began to repair the statue they could not find the hands that went on it. This statue was a picture of Jesus with his arms outstretched and down below the statue were these words. “Come unto me” They looked everywhere for the hands but they could not find them to finish the sculpture. They did not know what to do since it was a very prominent statue. So someone got an idea and this is what they did; they left the arms off the statue and they changed the sign underneath it “He has no hands but your hands” What a powerful picture! Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, February 13th 2017 Share the goods! A woman who was going through a bad time was trying to find rest for her soul. She had lost her husband and felt alone. She was spending time in a summerhouse trying to put her life back together. She was sitting in the middle of a big open room with high arching windows when a bird flew in. It flew up to the ceiling and was trapped. Trying to get out it flew to every window but nothing happened. It flew to where the light was coming in, but it couldn’t get out. It flew window after window, but it would only bang against the window and fall back. It would try to force its way out of the house through every little crack or crevice. She thought in her heart, “Poor bird, why do you not come down lower see this open door and fly out easily?” Tell God how you feel. Let Him bring the strength that is available to you through His Word. Click To Tweet But the bird insisted on wounding itself, flying against all of these clear windows. At last its wings grew tired. It flew lower and lower until finally, it was on the level with the open door. Then, seeing the way of escape the bird finally found freedom. Just then the woman thought, “I am like that bird. In August 1992 at the Barcelona Summer Olympics, Derrick Redmond from Great Britain was favored to win the 400 meter race. But as he powered around the backstretch, his hamstring snapped. Derrick tried desperately to finish the race, but he still had half the distance to go. Because he couldn’t walk, he began to hop. One step — a grimace. Two steps — a yell. Jim Redmond, Derrick’s dad, had to get to his struggling son. He doesn’t remember all the steps down from section 131, row 22, seat 25 of the Olympic stadium. He doesn’t really remember leaping over the railing or pushing off security guards who were too stunned to stop him. He was not just a spectator at the Olympics anymore; Jim Redmond was a father, and he had to get to his son. “Dad,” Derrick said, “Dad …Get me back to lane five. Metabolize Your Life

Metabolize Your Life

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, May 2nd 2016 Share the goods! When we do not metabolize or process the events in our lives we prevent ourselves from being able to embrace the new that God has for us. We’re like a computer that has a very small hard drive, say 3GB, and every time we try to upload a new program to our computer it slows down. I once had a computer that took 15 minutes to “boot up.” I would turn on my computer in the morning and then I would take a shower or eat breakfast, or do a whole bunch of other things. I finally realized that my computer was slow because there was no room on my hard drive for anything new. Get ready for the new things God has for you! Click To Tweet In other words, I had to remove some old programs to make room for the new programs. This is how life is for many people. God has some new software that He wants to load onto the hard drive of our life. But because we haven’t metabolized, or processed previous experiences we are unable to embrace what God is trying to do. It could be said that some people spend their whole lives “booting up.” In other words, they never get to run the program of life that God has for them because they are always “booting up.” They never get to the application of the things that God has for them because of unresolved issues that keep them in perpetual “boot up” mode. Roots & Fruit

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, April 25th 2016 Share the goods! In the bible there is a teaching on roots and fruits. God has designed the universe so that you can identify problems based on the effect they have on our lives. For example, suppose you discover water dripping from the ceiling of your living room and it’s ruining your carpet. You will probably respond to this problem in one of two ways. One way is to engage in damage control. You will keep empty pots and pans wherever the water is leaking and scurry around to keep them emptied. If you live in a rainy climate, this could become a full-time job. Plus, it’s hard to cook without cookware! Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Click To Tweet The second method you might choose is to hire someone to come in and fix the leaky roof. This may cost more, but it will truly solve the problem. The soggy carpet is evidence of the “fruit.” It tells us that there is a serious problem in the structure of the house. The “root” is the leaky roof. If we do not pay attention to the root, we will likely have much more bad fruit, such as thousands of dollars of damaged carpet and flooring. Matthew 7:17-18 NKJV says, “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. In other words, results always point toward causes. MORE TOPICS addiction...
Polished Gemstone

Polished Gemstone

Family Leadership Men Personal Development Relationships Women Monday, February 29th 2016 Share the goods! An unpolished gemstone looks no different from an ordinary piece of gravel. To polish it, you need three things: a rock tumbler, some abrasive grit, and at least one other stone. A rock tumbler is little more than a jar lying on its side atop a series of rollers. Inside the jar, you place some abrasive grit, the unpolished gemstone and at least one other stone . When the tumbler begins to roll, the rocks will slowly rise up the wall of the jar and then drop, crashing into one another over and over again. Each time they collide, the grit removes a tiny bit of the surface material on top of the gemstone. Each time they collide the stones become smoother and smoother but it’s a very slow process. What happens if you forget the abrasive grit? The stones will still collide, but without an abrasive grit, there is nothing to smooth the stones. They’ll continue to crash into each other and perhaps even chip or damage each other. However, the finished product will look no smoother than it did when you began. It’s not exactly pleasant to be the other rock in somebody else’s tumbler... Click To Tweet Think about it. Stone is struck thousands of time, but still isn’t polish. And you know what happens if you forget another stone? Absolutely nothing. The lone rock will tumble, but with nothing to strike against, it simply rises and falls. There will still be some abrasion as the stone bounces against the side of...
